Are you ready?

Today is the official release date for WAW! – the album from my trio Winther/Andersson/Watts and I’m so happy to being able to share this with you.

We recorded the album in August when Jeff was in Copenhagen, and I’m still amazed at how well our common energy from those days translated into the album. It truly is an invigorating and playful album.

The first reviews have all been full of praise:

“Already from the first track you are blown backwards in your chair. These guys mean business! Three musicians with more than just normal control over their respective instruments (grand piano, acoustic bass and drums) and with an exceptionally good musical chemistry give the music wings throughout the album. In between, extra petrol is put on the engines so that the music flies across the sky like an F16. The first track ‘Planet P’ is the most powerful thing I remember hearing this year from a piano trio.”

From All That (in Danish)

“The trio weaves seamlessly between moods with fluidity, personality, and confidence, creating a sonic tapestry that celebrates the distinct evolutions of jazz from both sides of the Atlantic. Rhythmically dense basslines, emotive piano-led songwriting, and staggering drum solos unite each musician’s unmistakable voice in a dedicated and impassioned celebration of their craft.”

Join us at the release concert

On June 13th, we play a short set at the Blindstock Festival at IBOS, Rymarksvej 1, Hellerup. This is a music festival with a focus on people and artists with visual impairments as well as the meaning and importance of community and role models within the world of art and music.

At this concert, Karl Wind Seyer-Hansen is sitting in for Jeff “Tain” Watts, who unfortunately couldn’t be here. We had a rehearsal in the beginning of this week and he showed up fully prepared. It’s a joy to invite a young and talented drummer like Karl on board. He takes the job extremely serious, he is a great joy to play with and brings a lot of energy to the music.

The concert is free of charge.
